General Professional Recognition Learning and Skills (GPRLS)

General Professional Recognition Learning and Skills (GPRLS) offers experienced and skilled practitioners who are not fully qualified the opportunity to prove through evidence and testimony that they should be regarded the same as their fully qualified colleagues.

GPRLS is currently open to teachers of Skills for Life subjects - literacy, numeracy and ESOL. It will shortly be extended to other areas of learning.  The scheme operates on a continuous rolling basis.

Successful applicants, as in PRLS, the previous scheme administered by SVUK, will be placed on a Recognition register held by the Institute for Learning.

To be successful, applicants require an up to date record of continuing professional development and a range of literacy or numeracy or ESOL teaching experience and competence.  They need a depth and breadth of knowledge in their specialist area as well as commitment to continued reflection and evidence of evaluating their own practice.

Successful GRPLS applicants who are recognised can go on to fulfil professional formation and any other requirements for Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) or, in areas other than Skills for Life, Associate Teacher Learning and Skills (ATLS) - the new licences to practise, which will be conferred by the Institute for Learning.

Further details of requirements and application information can be found in the Recognition section of the SVUK website www.svuk.eu
